September 19th High Mountain Foraging Class

September 19th High Mountain Foraging Class

$75.00

The high mountain foraging class will take place up at the Black Balsam area right off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Western North Carolina at 10:00AM. It includes an informative three hour-long walk through high altitude forests, mountain meadows, and mountain balds of the Black Balsam/Shining Rock Wilderness.

The purpose of the program is multifaceted; my goal is not only to teach and share information about what edibles are present in a particular season, but I also have a deeper purpose – to get people back to the seemingly simple act of foraging for food with the hope that as a result people will become more in tune with the seasons and inherently more mindful of where and how our food originates. Sustainability and medicinal plants of the high mountains will also be covered.

Bring water, and wear clothing appropriate for current weather, long pants and closed-toe comfortable hiking shoes. Keep in mind that we will be about 5,000- 6,000 feet up. Further directions, etc. will be emailed to you once you sign up for the class. Can’t wait to show you the diversity of plant life in the high mountains!
